Who we are

eduGuide is operated by Amaan Tesfaye out of Cape Town, South Africa. We built this tool to help South African matric and tertiary students find bursaries and university programmes that match their subjects and marks. We comply with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

What we collect

• Anonymous session data: The subjects, marks, and interests you enter into the bursary wizard. This is never linked to your identity and is cleared when your session ends.
• Your email address — only when you give it to us: If you submit feedback, request bursary deadline reminders, or create an account when that feature launches, we store the email address you provide.
• Technical data: Standard server logs — IP address, browser type, and request timestamp — used only for security and debugging. Retained for 30 days, then deleted.

How we use it

• Generate bursary and degree matches for your current session.
• Send the deadline reminders or replies you specifically asked for.
• Improve the product based on aggregate, non-identifying patterns across all sessions.

What we do not do

• We do not sell your data. Ever.
• We do not share your information with universities, bursary providers, or marketers.
• We do not run third-party advertising trackers.

Where your data lives

The service is hosted on Supabase (EU region) and Vercel. Email delivery is handled by SendGrid. Each provider operates under their own POPIA and GDPR-compliant data-processing terms. We do not transfer your personal data outside of these arrangements.

Your POPIA rights

Under POPIA you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data you have shared with us. Send a request from the email address you used to hello@edu-guide.co.za and we will action it within 30 days.

Cookies

We use only the essential cookies required to keep your session working. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or any third-party tracking scripts.

Changes to this policy

If we make a material change to how we collect or use your data, we will announce it on the home page. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always reflects the most recent revision.
